Brussels is full of architectural gems: between the excitement of the turn of the century and the inventiveness of the interwar period, the districts of the capital are adorned with surprising facades and interiors.

 

The urban layout bears witness to these two revolutionary eras: between the 19th and 20th centuries, Belgium, a young but already very rich state, acquired a new urban face; inspired by the lines of Nature and the materials of technology, Art Nouveau would be a true architectural turning point, a symbol of a creeping bourgeoisie and industrial grandeur.

 

After the end of the First World War, to respond to changing customs (and budgets), Art Deco became dominant: geometric lines, mass production, more economical materials, "a lot is done with little".
